The best iOS games for your summer vacation

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to dust off your App Store gift cards and splash out on some new games for your iPhone and iPad. Below, Jack from AppleMagazine has rounded up five of the best games that you should download for your summer vacations.

Heads Up!

The New York Times called this game a "Sensation," and Cosmopolitan said, "will be the best dollar you've spent." Heads Up is a game that you can play with one friend or one hundred at the same time. All you have to do is draw a new card by tilting your smartphone, and then ask your friends to explain what celebrity, object, animal, character or accent you have on your card – without giving away the name of the object in question. Although there are free alternatives to this app on the App Store, this game is free of advertising and allows you to keep videos of your game on your phone for your amusement. Plus, it's less than a dollar, and with hours of fun just around the corner, can you really complain!?

MONOPOLY Game

We've all played the classic board game version at some point in our lives and, dare we say it, dabbled with the McDonald's spin-off, too! With the MONOPOLY Game from Electronic Arts, you can play your favorite game with your friends or own your own, shaking iPhone to mimic shaking your dice. You can run through three difficulty levels and buy, sell and trade all of your properties and streets. The big question is, though, will you buy Boardwalk?

Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D

This game was first released back in 2010, but with everyone's favorite bandicoot coming back with a refreshed game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, there’s never been a better time to try out this classic car game in all of its glory. Described as the “richest 3D kart racing experience,” Crash takes you on a journey through twelve challenging tracks as you collect apples, compete with Crash’s enemies and get to the finish line before everyone else. Fun!

Moji Maker

Okay, so this one isn't exactly a game, but it's something that can bring you hours of fun nonetheless. Download the Moji Maker for your iPhone or iPad, and you'll have access to thousands of emoji components that you can use to create your own friendly yellow faces. You can then download these faces to your iMessage stickers library and send your friends emoji that have been based on their pretty little faces. It's pretty cool.

Plants vs. Zombies

When a game is voted as one of Apple's Essential apps, you know it's something that you should try out for yourself. Released last year, Plants vs. Zombies has won more than thirty Game of the Year awards and offers you fifty levels to play through for just ninety-nine cents. The best part of this game, other than the hours of fun you'll have playing it, is that there are no micro transactions, so once you've paid for the game, you don't have to worry about racking up an expensive bill at the end of the month. Perfect for the children.
