Sumi is an AI manga translator for manga, manhwa and webtoons. It detects speech bubbles, erases the original lettering, and re-typesets the translation inside the artwork, including vertical Japanese. Readers can retranslate individual bubbles or edit a line themselves.

Sumi is available for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with on-device translation available in the app. It also offers an online translator and Chrome and Firefox extensions, supporting 134 target languages online and in the browser extensions.

Sumi is free to download with optional paid plans. The online translator lets visitors try one page without an account; registration adds five pages, and users can claim five more each day. Sumi translates pages you own or already have open; it does not host manga.
